Health record system tops 4m users

The Food & Health Bureau announced today that the Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHRSS) has reached four million registered users, meaning that more than half of all Hong Kong citizens have signed up.   The affiliated eHealth App’s registered users also exceeded 1.2 million.   Citizens can complete the entire eHRSS registration process and verify their identity online with the iAM Smart platform’s identity authentication function, the bureau said. They can then gain access to eHRSS services including logging in to the eHealth App to retrieve personal electronic health records.   The eHealth App is a simple, integrated electronic platform enabling eHRSS users to view part of their key electronic health data such as COVID-19 vaccination records, medications, appointments, allergies and adverse drug reactions, as well as providing the latest public health information and messages.   In addition, users can record their daily blood pressure and blood sugar index on the app for monitoring changes in their physical condition. Such information can be shown to healthcare professionals for reference during check-ups to reduce consultation time, the bureau noted.   Developed by the Government, eHRSS allows registered healthcare providers in both the public and private sectors, with registered patients’ informed consent and proper authorisation, to view and share patients’ electronic health records. It aims to encourage public-private collaboration, facilitate continuity of care and enhance the efficiency and quality of healthcare services.
